Adirondack lodge style furnishings

Bear View Ridge is located in North Central Wisconsin. We specialize in Adirondack lodge furnishings using natural materials gathered in our area. These materials are white birch bark gathered in the spring of the year from trees that are  going to be logged. The twigs are from white birch also, using the tops that loggers leave behind. Yellow birch root systems along with burls are also used as they become available.   We enjoy creating forms of nature on our furnishings with twigs , hand nailing them with brass nails as a finishing touch. The collaboration with other artists in the use of wood carvings, forged iron work, mica , rawhide and hand pressed paper shades add to the completion of our products.

John Schakel    wil-club-ch.JPG (53858 bytes)

My background is thirty years of hard, exotic labor and finally a University degree in English.

In 1980 I left teaching to bend willow with my hands. Thousands of pieces later I have combined my skills and appreciation of hard labor with my love of beauty and people. My work is the strongest of pragmatics and the most classical curves of aesthetics.

If you wish to order a piece of willow furniture call 608/588-2833 - Prices do not include shipping.
