Veronica Chenier Veronica Chenier I always loved the smell of wood; new wood, old wood, sawdust. The feels of wood, its voice, even the slivers. It’s the slivers that teach you respect. It wasn’t until a four day workshop in November 1984 that I truly began my rustic journey towards today. My style grains towards a more refined rustic and some gentle hints of free-form branch work. With my background in drawing, design and sign printing, I often like to incorporate my wood carvings, burnings, or artwork into a piece. Found objects, iron miscellany, or nature’s droppings are added when the wood invites it. Home is the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada. This is a low lying area conducive to the growth of most of my basic wood supplies. When I’m finished my part time day job as a baker, I take my tools, rubber boots and head out to the woods and pastures and heaven.
